Life on the Sunny Side of the Street

There are times when we reap the benefits of serendipity -- when circumstances sift out to gift us with a favorable outcome.

We live on the sunny side of the street, and this achievement was a fortuitous accident. Both of these photos were taken at the same time. The house with the snow is across the street from mine.

Years ago when we purchased the house, the realtor extolled the virtues of living with a southern exposure. "You'll have to clear snow from your driveway less often," he'd said. Behind his back, my husband and I traded eye rolls. Yeah, like a south-facing driveway would encourage us to buy the house. But we did, and I'm glad.

And thus we made a serendipitous decision. Please let this public service announcement serve as a reminder to count your blessings. Rejoice in your blessings, and hold on and keep moving forward when life doesn't go your way. After all the rain falls on the just and the unjust -- and the sun shines on the just and unjust as well.

What a "cool" way (pun intended) to notice and thank God for His blessings - whether we recognize them at the time or not.
