My New Writing Partner

Writing is a solitary business. You’re in your head (and the head’s of your characters) so much of the time that you can lose track of reality.

I always had my old dog, Belle, to keep me in the moment. She was such a part of my writing life that she appeared in both of my novels. I like that she’s always going to live in my books, now that she’s not with us any more.

Well, I’ve got a new writing partner now. Bayle hangs by me when I write. Today I’m working at my dining room table, and she’s right beneath me. Sweet little thing, we take a breather together every couple of hours and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

I’m working on another novel, and I’ve come to the conclusion that Libby’s husband will have to get her a Jack Russell Terrier puppy. And she’s going to name her Bayle.

Sooooo sweet, Megan. I love writing with Gia by my side too. These puppies get under our skin, don't they? Can't wait to see how you write Bayle into the story. :-)

Ah. She is a sweetie. I was wondering who your new writing partner was. :)

What a great photo. You know what, I have two Shelties...one hovers near me when I write, when I work, you name it. He's always at my feet.

I work from my house but am required to sit in front of a computer for 8-9 hours per day to do my "day" job.

Then, I write each evening in between things...but hen I finaly settle down for a little "write-fest" (as my friend JC Lamont calls it) my little sweetie (Herky) sits at my feet.

Dogs are so precious, aren't they?

Thanks for stoppin' by my blog to see my picture of my other dog (Maddux).

And yes, your character definitely needs a dog!! *smile*

Bayle is precious, Megan! Pets can be such good company for us. Although I don't have a dog (but I do LIKE dogs*grin*) my 6 kitties keep me company now that I'm not teaching school. Somedays I call them my "toddlers in fur" because they get into things (plants, etc.) and want extra attention. But I wouldn't trade 'em for the world! Blessings from Georgia, Patti Jo :)
